Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, rooted in Sacred Scripture and centered on the Eucharist, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School embraces the values of Education, Faith, and Citizenship.
In 1969, when St. Joseph Catholic Schools and St. John Catholic Schools merged to form Lake Michigan Catholic School, the parishes needed financial help to run the schools. A capital campaign emerged, which generated $ 100,000.00 for the school. The individuals heavily involved in the campaign formed the non-profit Twin-City Area Catholic School Fund. The following people are acknowledged as starting the Twin-City Area Catholic School Fund in 1971: Ben Phillips, Vince Miller, Jim McQuillan, Yvonne Barlow, Robert VanArkel, Edward Conrad, Martin Edinborough, Bob Britnall, Jack Kinney, Nelson Lindeman, Joe Makin, Jerry Sarno, Sr., Judge Burkholtz, Howard Schmidt, and Ted Vernasco.
The Twin-City Area Catholic School Fund has an Annual Appeal that generates direct financial support for Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School. Proceeds from the Annual Appeal and from the endowment funds are calculated and distributed annually to Our Lady of the Lake.
The TCACSF has been instrumental in helping the school through many difficult times but has maintained a separate entity from the diocese, the parishes, and the school. Over the years, the Twin-City Area Catholic School Fund has granted over $4.5 million to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School.
The By-Laws of the Twin-City Area Catholic School Fund state that it exists “for the sole purpose of aiding in the support of Lake Michigan Catholic School, which is located in St. Joseph, Michigan.”
"Believing that the greatest wealth of our nation consists of our youth through whom we pass on our social and cultural heritage, and believing in the importance of private schools as adjuncts to the public school system and, in particular, schools with a religious orientation and atmosphere in which religion will be taught, it is the purpose of this corporation to aid in the support of Catholic schools in the Twin City area so that:
1. Continuation of the schools may be assured.
2. The quality of all phases of education in those schools may be continually improved.
3. The opportunity for religious education and school prayer may continue to exist.
4. Varied opportunities for securing our education may exist in our area.
5. Greater efficiency of the public school tax dollar may be secured.
