Band Program

Lake Michigan Catholic offers separate 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and High School Bands and has a long history of extraordinary participation and excellence in performance. For the past 30 years Lake Michigan Catholic has had one of the highest participation rates nationally with over 50% of the high school students involved in band!

There are many performance opportunities throughout the school year from football games to concerts to graduation performances. In addition Lake Michigan Catholic is part of the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association and students are eligible to participate in all MSBOA festivals. Middle and High School students have routinely received the highest ratings at both Solo & Ensemble festival as well as District Band Festival.

High School AP Art
Advanced Placement art students work towards a Senior Portfolio in May.  These students create high quality artwork in preparation for college courses.

The art classes at LMC focus on 2D drawing and design.  Students will also be introduced to several 3D art forms as well.  The Elements and Principles of Design are introduced and many forms of media and styles are attempted and perfected.

Students visit art galleries and museums; participate in the Scholastic Art and Writing Exhibit as well as the Berrien County Student Art Show; and keep an art journal throughout the year.

Drama
Each year students in the Middle-High School have an opportunity to put on two productions.  Typically the spring production is a musical.  It is not unusual to have 50-70 middle and high school students participate in these productions and they are very well done.  For additional information you can contact Mrs. Wendy Golob at 269-930-2371.

Liturgical Music Ensemble
Lake Michigan Catholic Schools provides a rich worship environment for students in the middle and high school, led by the school’s Liturgical Music Ensemble. This group is comprised of students in grades 6-12 under the direction of Stacey Davis. The choir consists of a diverse mix of vocalists and instrumentalists who provide the student body and staff with a wide variety of both contemporary and classical music for worship.

String Instruction
4th – 9th grade students have the opportunity to take lessons in the cello, viola and violin in a program established with the Citadel in Benton Harbor.  Transportation to the after school lessons will be provided by the school.  Parents will be responsible to pick up their children after the lesson.

Note: Band and Art courses are offered as a part of our regular curriculum.
