Lindsey Goshgarian’s 5th grade student, CHLOE KIBLER, had the winning essay for the local Algonquin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) American History Essay Contest.  This year’s essay topic is “A Colonial Family’s Reaction to the Stamp Act”.  Chloe’s essay will go on to compete at the state level.

Each year, a topic is selected for the DAR Contest which is open to students in grades 5 through 8 who attend public, private, and parochial schools, and home-study programs.  The contest was established to encourage young people to thing creatively about our nations’ history.  Essays are judged for historical accuracy, topic relation, organization, interest, originality, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and neatness.  Participants receive certificates from the chapter and winners receive bronze medals.
Congratulations Chloe, and best wishes at the state contest!
