2017 Track Update

6/3/17 – State Championship: It was a busy Saturday for the Lakers in Grand Rapids. Emily Stringer ran the 400m dash in 1:01.16 (a new personal record), securing her a spot on the medal stand. She then hopped back on the track two events later to run in the 800m.  Lizzie Stolte capped off her track career as a Laker by running her fastest 200m dash ever, but fell short of a spot on the medal podium by 0.09 seconds. Congratulations to the entire Track team on a hard-fought season, and Lizzie & Emily in particular for representing Lake Michigan Catholic so well at the State Championship.

LMC Freshman Emily Stringer has been selected as the WSJM Sports Student Athlete of the week for the week of May 14th, 2017.

For the week, Emily won the 400 Meter Dash at the Comstock Invitational while placing 2nd 800 and 3200.  At the Regional Meet, she won the 400 Meter Dash and 800 Meter Run and qualified for the state meet in both events.  At the Tennis Regional Finals, she and her playing partner finished 2nd at #2 Doubles and qualified for the State Finals.  She is also a member of the Cross Country, Competitive and Sideline Cheer teams, and Band.  In November, Emily ran in the State Cross Country finals.  When her Freshman year ends in June, she will have earned 5 Varsity letters.  In the classroom, she carries a 4.0 grade point average.

Emily is the daughter of April Mastri & Jim Stringer of Coloma.
