ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Kristin Cutter – Preschool

Bachelor of science in elementary education from Saint Mary’s College

I teach Preschool to 4-year-olds.

Living and practicing our faith everyday makes our school feel like a family. Sharing and growing in faith with my students is a blessing.

Our children have graduated from or are currently attending Lake Michigan Catholic.

 Tracy Glotzbach – Preschool

BA in Elementary Education from Purdue University and 18 credit hours of graduate courses from Western University for certificate renewal.

I teach Preschool at LMCES and I can teach K-5 with current Michigan certificate.

I love that Lake Michigan Catholic is like family and that God can be a part of what we do every day!

I fell in love with LMCES back in 1992 when we first moved to Michigan. For my husband’s first 3 years with Whirlpool we moved every 6-9 months. As we moved from town to town, I gained a lot of experience in many classrooms as a substitute teacher. Every time I subbed at LMCES, I was treated so nicely, especially by the students! I knew that LMCES was the place that I wanted to be and where I definitely wanted our yet-to-be-born children to attend school.

Lorie Loebach – Preschool

BS in Deaf Rehabilitation Counseling from Northern Illinois University
Associates Degree in Early Education from Ancilla College
Interpreters Degree from Waubonsee College
Masters In Human Services Counseling from National Louis University

I teach Preschool.

I enjoy teaching at LMC because of the loving support you get from LMC families and the caring for each students success.

I have been working closely with different organizations to educate and provide support services for children and their families dealing with sensory disorders. I have taught infant to adult sign language classes in the area for over 12 years. In Illinois my husband and I developed a sports camp for children who are Deaf. I have 4 children. They are actively involved in hockey. We spend most of our winter days at the cold hockey arena. I grew up in Maine. My family enjoys spending most of their summer days adventuring in Maine. I love gardening and teaching!

Jennifer Schrauben – Preschool

I earned a Bachelors Degree in Child Development from Central Michigan University.

I am the lead teacher in the 4 year old Little Laker preschool classroom.

I love teaching the Little Laker 4 year old preschool class at LMC. It is a joy to work together in a supportive environment of teachers that I respect and families I have grown to love. Preschool challenges me everyday to be creative, patient and flexible. It is rewarding to teach and encourage young children as they master skills for the very first time. I try to develop a love for learning by making every day fun and exciting!

I have had a variety of teaching experiences the last 20 years. In the preschool classroom, in the swimming pool, with girl scouts and at home with my family. It took a long time to start my family so I do not take a single day for granted. My twin girls Isabelle and Abigail make me so proud and bring me joy every single day. My husband Eric is my rock. He is calm and encouraging. He makes me laugh and helps me be the best I can be.

Carolyn Zmrhal – Transitional Kindergarten

Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Psychology from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.

Teaching is my passion and I feel incredibly honored to serve the students and families of Lake Michigan Catholic.   The early years of school  lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning and it is my goal to help students become self motivated and curious learners.  Our TK Lakers make connections, expand their knowledge, and practice their skills in a safe and Christ centered atmosphere.  It is truly a gift to be a part of a community with such a dedication to academics and faith.

My husband and I moved to Southwest Michigan 7 years ago and we have 3 children at LMC.  I love spending time with my family and friends, trips to the beach, and curling up on the couch with a good book.

 Jamie Hannapel – Kindergarten

BA in elementary Education from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN

I teach Kindergarten.

I love working with parents who are committed to QUALITY education. LMCES cultivates a feeling of family among students, staff and parents superior to any other school system in which I have been employed.

I attended LMC as a student, which was the reason I chose to bring my children to the school.

 Nicole Mills – Kindergarten

BA in Education with a minor in Kindergarten from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana

Master of Arts in the Practice of Teaching from Western Michigan University

I teach all subject areas in Kindergarten. I also have previous experiences teaching Second Grade and Preschool.

At Lake Michigan Catholic we are a family. Faculty, staff and students treat each other with respect and understanding. Teachers work together on a daily basis to create the best possible learning environment for all students.

My husband and I are both Lake Michigan Catholic alumni. We are currently sending our own children to LMC for a faith-filled education to become well-rounded, life-long learners.

My family and I have been members of St. Joseph Catholic Parish for twenty-six years. During that time, I have served as an extraordinary minister and catechist. Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Central Michigan University

With over ten years of teaching experience, half of which being in public school and the other half in Catholic schools, I enjoy the family and close-knit feel of being part of a Catholic school community.

I’ve lived and taught all over the country, including Ohio, California, Hawaii, and Tennessee. My family and I have been in Michigan for a couple years now, and we really enjoy it.  My husband and I have a six year old named Jonah, who is a proud LMC First Grader!  🙂

 Stephanie Rugg – 2nd Grade

As a graduate of Lake Michigan Catholic, I enjoy teaching at the school that I attended and continuing LMC traditions. Having taught English in the middle school for seven years, I now enjoy integrating language arts skills into science lessons and having fun with in-class lab experiments.

At home I have three children – Avery and Colin (twin boys) and Savannah – who keep my husband and myself very busy.

LMC is an enjoyable place to teach. I appreciate working in a kind, respectful school environment that promotes academic success, high family values, community service, and sharing of faith. Our students, parents, and staff are thoughtful, welcoming, and generous.

My family and I enjoy living in St. Joseph. We are active members in our community through sport clubs, church, and school extra-curricular activities. We especially like to attend Laker FUN activities and Laker sporting events when possible.

 Pam Bodley – 3rd Grade

It is wonderful to be a part of the LMC community. The staff is like a family that encourages and supports each other by sharing the Catholic faith, and being aware of God’s presence in all that we do. We work together to challenge ourselves, applaud successes, and strive to make a difference in each student’s life.

I am a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and have been a teacher at LMC for 17 years. I am married and have 3 daughters and 2 son-in-laws. During my free time, I love to bake…especially Peabods Cookies!

The subjects I teach are 3rd grade Religion, Math, Reading, Phonics, Social Studies, English, Writing, Spelling and Handwriting.

The thing I enjoy most about teaching at LMC is being able to teach my students about God and their faith. I love how I can discuss our faith in every subject and situation. It is amazing to witness their spiritual growth.

I have been teaching for 17 years in Catholic schools. I’m a proud parent of two LMC alumni, Michael and Megan, who both have received Bachelor degrees from Western Michigan University.  This summer I celebrated my 28th wedding anniversary with my husband, Jim.

Being part of Lake Michigan Catholic is a joy and a privilege.  It is wonderful working with a conscientious, innovative, caring and spirited staff.   It’s like having 24 brains instead of one!  I like that students receive the structure to feel secure and comfortable and the freedom to expand their minds in a loving environment where teachers, students, and parents partner with God.

 Lindsey Goshgarian – 5th Grade

BS in Education with a Concentration in English and Science from Franciscan University

I currently teach Fifth Grade, all subjects, except Social Studies.

I love teaching at Lake Michigan Catholic because I have the privilege and the blessing of being able to teach children not only about academic subjects, but about the creator of all subjects- God himself! It is a gift to know that my daily work truly makes a difference, both now and eternally. The students and I learn together about challenging material, who we are in Christ, and who we are as part of the LMC family!

I love paddleboarding on Lake Michigan, playing tennis, and rock climbing.

Sarah Rouse – 5th Grade

Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Fontbonne University in St. Louis, MO.

It is a true honor to be a part of the Lake Michigan Catholic Family.  Waking up each day to teach students about the world and its creator is what brings me pure joy.

I am a wife and mother of two: a little Laker girl (Janey) and a soon to be Laker boy, Hunter.  I also love to travel.  I’ve been fortunate to visit over 40 countries and hope to inspire my students to develop a passion for learning about the world.  I also love yoga, baking, reading, and learning about different cultures and languages.

 Mary Noble Dudding – Art

B.A. In English Literature, Mercy College of Detroit

Post-graduate credits in Fine Art, Western Michigan University

I enjoy experimenting with art and have continued my education by taking classes at the MoonTree Studio on the campus of Ancilla College, as well as at the Transformation Center in Kalamazoo. Recently, our students won the first place award for Collaborative Artwork during the Berrien County Elementary Exhibition.

I am a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church where I am a lector and coordinator for the Noon to three o’clock hours in the Adoration Chapel. I have four children, all of whom graduated from Lake Michigan Catholic. I also have seven grandchildren, one who is currently a Laker.

I’m a big fan of barre class, zumba, riding my bike and hiking at Grand Mere.

Students at Lake Michigan Catholic are so enthusiastic about art that I feel like a hero. The young artists are truly a joy to work with and I have been saying that for more than twenty years.

Bethany Ergican – Spanish

Classroom Website

BA in Spanish from University of Nevada Reno
BA in International Affairs with a specialization in Latin America from the University of Nevada Reno
Teaching Credential from the California State University of Long Beach

I teach Elementary Spanish and 6th grade Spanish.

I absolutely love teaching Spanish at the Elementary and Middle School level at LMC for so many reasons, but mostly the wonderful students, teachers, administrators, and families are what make it the best school to teach at. The community at our school is very supportive of one another and close-knit. It truly feels like a family and I am so grateful every day to teach here!

I have lived in St. Joe since the summer of 2015. I grew up in Northern Nevada and traveled a lot during my college years. I spent a semester at the University of Hawaii-Manoa, two semesters in Costa Rica living with a host family and interning as a bilingual tour guide at the local Marine Park, and my winter break of senior year in Prague, Czech Republic at an International Affairs conference. In my free time, I love to hike, do yoga and zumba, cook, and watch TV with my husband and our hairless cat, Sonrisa. I recently became a mom to my wonderful daughter, Selin, and love every precious moment of watching her grow so fast!

Joe Jarvie – Band

BA in Music Education with a minor in Music Performance from Western Michigan University with graduate work towards a Masters In Music from Western Michigan University.

I enjoy the great students and supportive parents and staff that I am in contact with each day. It is stimulating professionally to work in a school system that has a positive school climate and continues to stay on the cutting edge of technology and educational philosophy.

I spend my summers farming 300 acres in the U.P. specializing in high quality timothy hay (jarviehayfarms.com). The majority of the hay I produce is shipped to Ocala, FL for resale.

Mathews, Jan 09-12Jan Mathews – Library & Media Center Director

I am responsible for managing the Library collection and circulation for 4-year-old Preschool through 5th Grade, and Computer instruction for Transitional Kindergarten through 5th Grade.

Afternoons find me outside, running the car line at dismissal. I sincerely appreciate all the offers of an umbrella on the rainy days but I honestly do like the rain. Rain, shine, or, dare I say, snow, I like it even more when your car doors are unlocked!

Being among teaching professionals who are compassionate, collegial and curious is a daily education. Add a bunch of nice kids who are inventive, thoughtful and motivated, and LMC becomes a place where we all learn new things each day, and discover the infinite ways our Catholic faith and knowledge of every kind are connected.

I love middle schoolers. Their bright, curious minds, strong opinions, and tendency to argue are all food for an interactive English class.  I enjoy wrestling classic novels with them, examining different points of view, and helping them create written arguments that are strong and logical.  Doing all of this at Lake Michigan Catholic, where I graduated from many years ago, and in the context of our Catholic faith, is a true blessing.

When I’m not teaching, you might find me running my two girls back and forth between elementary school and middle school activities.  Hazel is in 6th grade and Hannah is in 5th.  I also might be found novel writing, supporting all local coffee shops, or stitching little pieces of geometric fabrics together at the local quilt guild

I have been teaching Theology at LMC since 2010.  I have had the pleasure of taking kids on spiritual retreats, mission trips, chaperoning and coaching almost every sport offered at LMC so this does give me a bit of a different perspective on the kids other than just being in the classroom. I can say with absolute certainty how amazing the kids are at LMC!  I want to thank them for making my days that much easier and for making coming to school never a job, but something I love to do.

Outside of school I love to fish, usually on inland lakes.  I also love to golf, draw and work on my farm with my son Easton.
