3rd oilspills 3 12-04-15Within their recent geology and Earth studies unit, Mrs. Bodley’s 3rd Grade science students learned how oil spills occur, and considered different clean-up methods.  After simulating an oil spill, they tried to restore the water to its original state by removing as much oil as possible, using and comparing a variety of materials, such as sponges, cotton balls, pipe cleaners, and coffee filters.  It was difficult.  The experience highlighted the need for stewardship of all our waters, conscientious use of energy, and forward-thinking design for safe energy production.   Go to the Galleries tab to see more pictures of our future environmentalists in action!
